Rolls-Royce Sells Out Pricey Phantom Inspired by Ancient Greek Sculpture [Video]

The newest collection of Rolls-Royce Phantoms is inspired by the sculpted, winged figure that graces ever Phantom bonnet. The Phantom Scintilla Private Collection takes its cues from the grace, dynamism and beauty of the Spirit of Ecstasy.

The long-known symbol of the Rolls-Royce brand, the Spirit of Ecstasy recalls the marble Greek sculpture “The Winged Victory of Samothrace” which inspired the first version of the Spirit in 1910.

The face of the hood ornament takes its inspiration from Eleanor Thornton, John Douglas-Scott-Montagu, 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu’s secretary and paramour.

Customization to the Phantom for the Scintilla Private Collection kicks off right up front. The Spirit is coated in ceramic, taking inspiration from its origin story.
