Retiring AP city manager shuts down rumors of severance payment [Video]

The departing city manager took to social media to shut down public speculation that he will be paid more than a $60 K severance package.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The retiring city manager of Aransas Pass took to the city’s Facebook page on Monday morning to shut down rumors stating that he plans to take a severance package of more than $62,000 following news of his upcoming retirement. 

Gary Edwards told the public he voluntarily resigned from his position, meaning that he will not collect a severance payout of any kind. 

Edwards began serving as the city manager back in 2017, spearheading recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey. 

He confirmed is retirement last week.
