Police: Woman arrested for child abuse in Monroe after pushing son through door [Video]

The suspect was booked in jail on charges of child abuse and cruelty toward a child. Child Protective Services turned her son and five other children over to family.

MONROE, Mich. — Monroe police arrested a woman on Tuesday for child abuse after she allegedly pushed her 8-year-old son through a glass door at a grocery store in the city.

The suspect, a 32-year-old who the Monroe Public Safety Department does not identify in a social media post about the incident, was booked in the Monroe County Jail on charges of child abuse and cruelty toward a child.

According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the Towne Square Market on East 3rd Street Tuesday afternoon for a report of damaged property after a suspect had broken the store’s front doors.
