Polestar names ex-Audi designer as new design chief [Video]

Polestar on Wednesday named Philipp Römers as its new design chief.

He replaces Maximilian Missoni who led Polestar design for the past six years, and is taking up a new role at a different company.

Römers has more than 25 years of experience in automotive design, with most of the years spent at Volkswagen Group.

Prior to joining Polestar, he was head of exterior design at VW Group brand Audi, where he oversaw projects like the new A6 E-Tron and Q6 E-Tron.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath was also a former designer at Audi. He joined Volvo as its design chief in 2012 and was appointed Polestar’s CEO when the Volvo performance division became a standalone brand in 2017.

“Philipp’s modern approach to automotive design and experience from the luxury, performance segment will really support us as we take the next step in developing our model lineup,” Ingenlath said in a statement.
