Platte County sentences 3 to prison for retail thefts, Zona Rosa [Video]

The Platte County Prosecutor’s Office announced significant prison sentences for three people convicted of retail thefts in the Kansas City area Tuesday.In a news release sent Tuesday, Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said, “We have to send a message to people intent on stealing from Platte County retailers: If you continue to steal or ever use a weapon, prison is your next destination.”Marvin Calhoun was sentenced to 20 years behind bars for first-degree robbery and 10 years for armed criminal action in connection with a 2018 theft of Kansas City Chiefs merchandise from Zona Rosa in Kansas City. Documents state on October 5, 2018, Calhoun robbed the Zona Rosa Dick’s Sporting Goods Location of a basket of Chiefs merchandise.Zahnd’s office said a clerk tried to intercept Calhoun as he left the store and asked if he needed help checking out.
