Pictured Rocks waterfall puts on rare summertime show [Video]

MUNISING, MI – Visitors to the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore were treated to a rare summertime treat on Wednesday.

The National Park Service posted a video to its social media depicting a waterfall rarely seen outside of winter when it is a wall of ice.

“This waterfall is not a normal sight in summer months, but heavy rains earlier this week brought it to life,” NPS rangers wrote. “In the winter, this location is a popular ice climb named ‘Dairyland.’ Ice climbs have the best names.”

Ice climbers often come to the cliffs near Munising to climb ice formations and according to The Mountain Project, Dairyland is “the mother of all Munising climbs” even though its not hardest.

“It’s the biggest, fattest, and most inspiring climb to look at and climb in the park,” the climbing website noted. “The climb forms in two huge pillars fed by a creek above, that come together at the top to form massive …
