Optimism boosts job salaries and vacancies in the UK [Video]

UK job vacancies have risen for the first time this year – up 1.1 per cent to 862,043 in July, compared with June – bringing the first sign of an improvement in prospects to those seeking a new role, writes Emily Braegar.

Following positive growth figures and the election, business confidence rebounded last month.

This translated to increased hiring, according to new data from the latest UK Job Market Report by employment search engine Adzuna.

Compared with July 2023, vacancies are still down by 17.69 per cent, which demonstrates that the market still has a long way to go to achieve a full recovery.

Meanwhile, average advertised salaries are higher compared with last year, up by 2.95 per cent to £38,863, whilst month-on-month average advertised salaries increased marginally, up by 0.08 per cent.
