North Carolina officials tout record job growth in 2024 [Video]

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The state of North Carolina eclipsed a significant milestone in 2024, adding nearly 17,000 jobs, Gov. Josh Stein announced Tuesday. 

Stein said 218 business recruitment, expansion and development projects resulted in the creation of 16,956 jobs statewide last year. These jobs are estimated to bring $15.2 billion to the Tar Heel State. 

“Thanks to our talented workforce and robust business environment, North Carolina is a top state for work and business,” Stein said. “As governor, I will continue to invest in our economic development and ensure that these opportunities reach all corners of our state.”

Among the projects highlighted by Stein’s office was Amrep Manufacturing Company’s expansion in Rowan county, creating 170 jobs to produce front-load and side-load trucks for waste collection.
