NKY city to turn former Disabled American Vets property into mixed use development [Video]

COLD SPRING, Ky. (WXIX) – The Cold Spring City Council moved forward on Monday to re-zone the former Disabled American Veterans property despite a petition and opposition from some residents.

The council voted 4-2 to change the property’s zoning to allow for a multi-use development with restaurants and businesses.

“This is the most sought-after piece of land in Campbell County,” a council member said. “This is 27 acres.”

Some residents have opposed the plan and have passed out petitions against it.

“Our issue is there is going to be a brand new exit out of this development 100 yards down from my street,” one resident said. “It’s already incredibly difficult to turn left from my street.”

Residents said they were concerned with increased traffic being a safety issue and preserving vegetation.

One council member said they consider what’s best for the city as a whole when making decisions.
