Work continues to meet the growing demand for housing in the southern part of Birmingham.A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday for The Cottages at Greystone.This property is adding 189 units to Birmingham’s Housing Inventory.These rentable townhomes and cottages are filling a need in this part of Birmingham, according to City Councilor Hunter Williams.”You have a lot of businesses and a lot of people that want to live in North Shelby County, in the southern part of Birmingham,” Williams said. “And so what this does is it adds a unique and quality option, where there otherwise has not been one.”This property is one of a few new developments in the neighborhood.Just down the road, construction continues on the Whitby Birmingham luxury apartments.That complex is expected to open for tours next month.Williams said part of the attraction to this area is its proximity to downtown.”It’s close enough to our downtown corridor where …
