N.J. state trooper wanted sex, pictures from 14-year-old, prosecutor alleges [Video]

A New Jersey State Police trooper contacted a person he thought was a 14-year-old girl and asked her for sexually explicit pictures and said he’d pay for a sex act, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday.

The girl was actually a prosecutor’s detective monitoring the social media app Whisper, and the office says the requestor was Shane Dempsey, the prosecutor’s office said.

Dempsey, 31, of Brick, is charged with attempted endangering the welfare of a child via permitting the child to engage in child pornography (now called child sexual abuse materials, or CSAM), and attempted prostitution, attempted luring, attempted sexual assault and a second endangering child related to sexual conduct, the prosecutor said.
