Mining in Alaska continues upward trend in 2023 [Video]

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) – The mining industry continued its growth in Alaska during 2023.

That’s according to a report from the McKinley Research Group, whose work was commissioned by Alaska Metal Mines, along with the Alaska Miners Association (AMA).

Touting what it calls economic benefits and job support for thousands in Alaska last year, a press release on Wednesday from the AMA calls the industry a powerhouse.

The report highlights more than a billion dollars spent at Alaska-based businesses for goods and services, as well as more than a billion dollars in wages paid to employees.

It also shows the industry providing 11,800 hundred jobs, both direct and indirect.

Finally, according to the report, more than $5 million in charitable giving was paid out by mining companies.
