Michigan lawmaker calls for Secret Service Director to resign [Video]

The Grand Rapids campaign event comes exactly one week after the failed assassination attempt. And after the ordeal in Pennsylvania, criticism has plagued the Secret Service. 

A West Michigan lawmaker is demanding Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle step down from her post. 

U.S. Rep. Bill Huizenga, who serves Michigan’s 4th congressional district, shared his thoughts Wednesday evening on social media. 

“The 45th President of the United States was less than an inch away from being assassinated on her watch. I have no faith in her ability to lead the Secret Service given the absolute failure this past weekend,” Rep. Huizenga said. “Her immediate resignation is only the beginning of what must happen.”
