Mexia ISD investigating school shooting threat on social media [Video]

While the district worked with Mexia Police to determine the threat was not credible, additional officers will be surveying and monitoring campuses to ensure there are no threats and the students in attendance are safe.

“Last night Mexia ISD Administration was made aware of a social media post about a song that made reference to ‘shooting up the high school in Mexia’,” the district said in a post about the matter. “District administrators immediately contacted Mexia Police who investigated and determined this was not a credible threat. As a precaution, additional law enforcement officers will check on all MISD campuses this morning and throughout the day. Safety of students and staff will always be the district’s highest priority.”
