Memorial unveiled in eastern Kentucky to honor 46 victims of historic 2022 flooding | News from WDRB [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A memorial was unveiled Wednesday in Perry County to honor the victims of the 2022 flooding in the area, LEX18 reported.

The memorial names all 46 people whose lives were lost in Perry, Clay, Breathitt, Knott, Letcher and Pike counties.

The design process was extra special for the artist, Rachel Crawford, because her 18-year-old brother, Aaron Mick Crawford, died in the historic flooding. He was helping people impacted by the rising water for days until he passed away from a cardiac event.

“He had the biggest heart of anybody and he loved the Lord and he would stop in Walmart and pray for people and I used to get embarrassed a little bit and be like ‘Mick, come on. You don’t know these people,'” Rachel Crawford said Wednesday. “And then he would stop and pray for them and he had the most amazing personality.”
