Median house prices hit record high as 20,000 added in one year [Video]

Residential property prices increased 9.6% nationally in the 12 months to July, up from 8.9% in June, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Property prices rose 10.3% year-on-year in Dublin between growth of 10.9% for houses and 8% for apartments, and 9.1% outside the capital where house prices rose 9% and apartment prices increased 10.6%.

Price growth in the capital was fastest in south Dublin at 12.1% and slowest in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown at 8.3%.

In the rest of the country, the mid-west (Clare, Limerick and Tipperary) saw the largest annual increase in prices at 13.4%, and the south-east (Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford) saw the smallest (+6.1%).

The median price paid for homes purchased in the year to July was €340,000, up from €337,500 in June and by a full €20,000 from €320,000 in July 2023.
