A man believed to be a British soldier has been rushed to hospital following a knife attack outside an army base.
The man was found injured 200m away from Brompton Barracks in Chatham, Kent, at around 6pm.
Witnesses near the scene reported a man was armed with two kitchen knives and set upon the victim.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Kent Police confirmed.
Photos from social media showed a heavy emergency service presence in the area following the stabbing.
The Ministry of Defence said: ‘We are aware of an emerging incident in the Chatham area which may have involved a soldier.
‘As the circumstances are currently under investigation by Kent Police, we cannot comment further.’
