Madison County Monster Truck permit denied [Video]

Monster trucks may be coming to Madison, but it won’t be Saturday.

On Tuesday, the Madison County Board of Supervisors denied a large-scale event permit application for Overdrive Monster Trucks to host an event Saturday at the Young Farmers’ Fairgrounds. Advertisements for the event began popping up approximately a month ago on social media and more than 700 tickets were sold, but an application to host the event wasn’t submitted until last week. 

Several years ago, county officials enacted a large-scale outdoor event ordinance. The ordinance, created after a large motocross event was held unbeknownst to emergency services, requires a permit to be submitted and approved for any event with more than 300 attendees. Permits for events with more than 750 anticipated attendees must receive board approval. Applications must be submitted at least 45 days prior to the event.
