LAS VEGAS (Gray News) – A longtime McDonald’s employee is still working at age 82 because he says he cannot afford to retire.
According to a report from KSNV, Edward Eubanks has worked at a McDonald’s in Las Vegas since 2009.
Eubanks is a Vietnam veteran who then spent decades working at the Nevada National Security Site, followed by a few various jobs.
For the last 15 years, he’s worked at McDonald’s, helping to restock the soda station items and keeping the restaurant clean.
Eubanks told KSNV he has never been able to save or invest in his retirement.
And he’s not alone. According to the AARP, about one in four seniors have no retirement savings.
After his story from KSNV went viral, community members set up a GoFundMe page to help Eubanks, which has raised more than $6,000.
In a statement to KSNV, McDonald’s owner/operators said they are grateful to have Eubanks on their team.
