License plate reader leads to arrest of rape suspect [Video]

LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) – A tip from Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) helped Lebanon Police Officers locate and arrest a man wanted for rape out of New Jersey.

In a social media post, the Lebanon Police Department said THP received a license plate reader alert indicating the man might be in Murfreesboro Road and Interstate 40.

THP alerted Lebanon Police Officers who then searched the area and soon found the suspect’s vehicle near the Mapco on South Cumberland Street. Lebanon Police said officers confirmed the suspect’s extradition with dispatch and arrested him without incident.
