Le Mars School District looking to build new elementary school with bond referendum [Video]

LE MARS, Iowa (KTIV) – One local school district will be asking voters in their community, to approve a multi-million dollar bond for a brand-new elementary school.

The bond referendum for the Le Mars school district, asks voters to consider voting on a $49.97 million Pre-K through 5th grade building. The new 151,000-square-foot building would serve all students in the district.

The district says the new building is needed due to the combined $26.5 million in facility updates at the three current elementary schools. They also say the elementary schools are operating beyond capacity by over 100 students.

According to the district’s informational page, if the bond were to pass the tax impact on a home valued at $200,000 would cost an additional $17.71 per month, and a home valued at $350,000 would cost an additional $31.73 per month.
