Large flames, black smoke at Valero Refinery concerns many Wednesday evening [Video]

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A large fire was extinguished at the Three Rivers Valero Refinery Wednesday evening, according to Valero public affairs manager Darcy Schroeder. 

No injuries were reported.

Details on how the fire started and the extent of any damage is still unknown at this time.

Officials with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) told 3NEWS the agency conducted air monitoring in the surrounding community and said, “no constituents of concern were detected.”

A video large flames and black smoke gathered a lot of views and concerns on social media Wednesday night.

Resident Marcus Lopez who works at a gas station near the refinery described the alarming sight to 3NEWS.
