Jacksonville City Council in no rush to vote on a yearlong moratorium [Video]

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (WBRC) – Jacksonville city leaders are taking a closer look at a possible yearlong moratorium to slow part of that housing growth.

With the sudden growth of the city, officials are deciding to introduce the idea of a one-year moratorium on multi-family dwellings to accommodate such growth. City leaders are meeting Monday evening, to continue discussions about new ideas and taking feedback from potential developers wanting to do business in the city.

“We’re not voting on the moratorium yet, we’re still discussing kind of how we would employ it, maybe what kind of factors go into that but if one were to be approved, the idea behind it would be taking six months to a year where we don’t approve the new development projects,” says Ben Nunnally with the City of Jacksonville.
