Internet Claims Toilet Paper Can Cause Yeast Infection: Is This True? [Video]

Can Toilet Papers Cause Yeast Infection?

A yeast infection generally occurs due to an overgrowth of candida or fungus in various areas of the body. It most commonly occurs in the vaginal area of women, leading to symptoms such as itching, burning, thick white discharge, redness, swelling, pain, or burning when urinating or during sex.

Coming to the question of whether or not toilet paper causes yeast infection, Dr Bhattacharya said, “Certain types of scented or dyed toilet paper may irritate sensitive skin, potentially disrupting the natural flora and pH balance of intimate areas. This disruption could create an environment favourable to yeast overgrowth, increasing the risk of infections.”

She added, “Certain ingredients in toilet paper, such as fragrances, dyes, and harsh chemicals, may irritate sensitive skin and disrupt the natural balance of flora and pH in intimate areas. This irritation can increase the likelihood of yeast overgrowth.
