RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – At-home security systems are more popular than ever, protecting more than 70% of homes in the U.S.
That’s 94 million homes with cameras, alarms and video doorbells, up from 84 million last year.
But according to SafeHome.org, crime isn’t the main factor driving the surge, and technology isn’t stopping there.
Families with children in the home drive much of the growth, with 33% of users using this as the primary motivator, compared to 10% driven by crime.
It’s not widely available yet, but consumers want to add biometric tracking features like fingerprints and face IDs to secure their homes.
