Aldi Ireland has completed the purchase of a 60-acre site in Co Kildare close to its existing distribution centre and corporate headquarters in Naas for €24m.
The purchase of the site, which is located adjacent to the motorway network, is part of the supermarket retailer’s long-term strategic growth planning.
The announcement comes as Aldi publishes its 2023 financial results, showing that turnover grew 3.4% year-on-year to €2.1bn.
Profitability declined 2.1% from €17.2m to €16.8m as Aldi continued to invest in its supplier network and struggled with input cost inflation.
During the year, Aldi spent €67m opening six stores and paid €197m in wages and salary costs.
Over the past 25 years, Aldi has invested €2bn in capital expenditure and grew its store network from an initial two to 162.
The company has spent more than €10bn with Irish suppliers and now supports more than 330 Irish businesses.
