FREDERICK, Md. (DC News Now) — At one point in time, it had seemed like Route 40, or the Golden Mile, had lost its spark, but according to local businesses, the development along that stretch has been nothing but thriving over the last few years.
Executive director for the Golden Mile Alliance, Christopher McDonald, said the Golden Mile had many spaces for businesses to set up shop but now new businesses seem to be opening along the strip every week.
“One of the main drivers of the Golden Mile is our state highway, Route 40, and what that traffic pattern brings is all different types of customers in commerce to the Golden Mile, and that’s why you see the thriving commerce,” McDonald said. “We’d have some business here and there but it’s always been a place for business owners to come and start a business and the exposure they got from the traffic that …
