Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson, who’s remains behind former Anchorage Assembly Chair Suzanne LaFrance in Anchorage’s mayoral election tally, announced a new police chief Tuesday and the retirement of current Chief Michael Kerle.

Mayor Bronson insisted timing of announcement has nothing to do with the likely mayoral run-off he faces against Suzanne LaFrance in May.
