Family-owned fruit grower celebrates 100 years at Muskegon Farmers Market [Video]

MUSKEGON, MI — Hart-based Golden Hart Fruit Farm and its sweet cherries have been a fixture of the Muskegon Farmers Market since 1924, and the market on Saturday will pay homage to the farm with a 100-year anniversary celebration.

“Reaching 100 years of serving this community is a testament to the enduring bond between local farmers and the people they serve,” Lisa Potter, Muskegon Farmers Market Manager, said in a statement.

Established in the late 1890s by Weaver Gebhart, the now 500-acre farm also grows asparagus, apples and tart cherries for wholesale.

The farmers market plans to host a 100-year anniversary celebration beginning with a formal presentation at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Attendees are invited to come and enjoy cherry crisp made with cherries from Golden Hart Fruit Farms.
