Electrical wholesalers Wesco and Bellew agree strategic partnership [Video]

Independent wholsesaler Wesco Electrical has agreed a strategic partnership with Bellew Electrical to support its growth strategy.

Wesco plans to significantly expand its footprint beyond its current locations in Drogheda, Navan, Newbridge, and Naas with the support of Bellew, which was acquired by private equity group Waterland earlier this year.

The company was founded in 1972 in response to a need for a local electrical wholesale distributor to supply electrical contractors and industry in the Drogheda area.

It has since grown to be one of the largest Irish-owned independent electrical wholesalers in the north-east, with turnover of €20.8m and profits of €1.3m last year.

The company has shareholders’ funds totalling €10.8m, including €3.5m in cash and tangible assets of €2.3m.

Similarly, Bellew has four outlets in Drogheda, Dundalk, Castleblayney and Crossmaglen, and just opened a central distribution warehouse in Dundalk.
