Denny’s to Close 150 Stores by 2025, Starting with 50 by Year-End | Homepage [Video]

Restaurant chain Denny’s has announced plans to close 150 stores by the end of 2025. The first 50 will be closed by the end of this year.

This announcement comes after a change in leadership this past September. These closures come as part of a plan to stimulate growth for the company.

According to USA Today Denny’s Executive Vice President and Chief Global Development Officer Stephen Dunn, the restaurants closing are older locations that are too old to remodel or are based in unprofitable locations.

“Some of these restaurants can be very old. So when you think of a 70-year-old plus brand, you have a lot of restaurants that have been out there for a very long time,” Dunn told investors at the meeting.

Currently, the Denny’s brand consists of over 1,500 stores, 168 of which are located outside the U.S.

Denny’s has not said which restaurants are slated for closure.
