ASHBURN, Va. — Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has accomplished what he calls the “toughest part” of his job: finalizing his 53-man roster.
Quinn and the Commanders management had until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to decide who would be wearing the burgundy and gold for the 2024-2025 season. The list put out by the team Tuesday saw 34 players released, three placed on the injured reserve list, and one name placed on the physically unable to perform list.
Some early fan favorites were not on the list, including social media sensation Sam Hartman and wide receiver Martavis Bryant, a former Pittsburg Steeler who was attempting a comeback after not playing in an NFL game since 2018 because of a five-year ban for violating the league’s substance abuse policy; Bryant added a touchdown to his stats in this final preseason game against the Patriots.
