City of Charlotte announces microtransit system WSOC TV [Video]

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Area Transit System announced a new microtransit service that will provide on-demand transportation starting on Feb. 24, 2025.

CATS is partnering with Spare, which will provide booking services, and MV Transportation, a paratransit provider, to provide on-demand, shared rides within the Northern Mecklenburg County area.

The system is called CATS Micro, according to a press release. The fleet will consist of vehicles with CATS Micro branding.

CATS Micro will provide rides from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends for the same fare as CATS buses and trains, $2.20.

Riders will be able to request wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
