Hurricane Francine caused widespread power outages and flooding across Southeast Louisiana. As crews continue to assess damage, some schools are announcing closures for Friday, Sept. 13. The following schools have announced closures: Lafourche Parish: CLOSEDAll Lafourche Parish schools will remain closed on Friday, Sept. 13. Terrebonne Parish: CLOSEDDue to extensive power outages and conditions throughout our community, all schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 13, 2024.St. Tammany Parish: OPENAll St. Tammany Parish Schools will reopen Friday, Sept. 13. Northshore Kids Academy in Slidell will reopen Friday, September 13th.Jefferson Parish: CLOSEDAll Jefferson Parish Public Schools are closed Friday, Sept. 13.Jefferson RISE Charter School will be closed on Friday 9/13 due to the continued power outages. Announcements about reopening will be site-based based on several factors, including power restoration, after consultation with the Department of Catholic Education and Faith Formation and civil authorities as necessary. Please be patient with our school leaders as they assess and work to mitigate any damage.
