CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. (KYW Newsradio) — The Chester County Government Services Center in West Chester was evacuated Tuesday night in response to a bomb threat made on the facility.
Chester County Commissioner Josh Maxwell confirmed the threat in posts on social media 20 minutes before polls closed.
Maxwell said voter services are located at the government center and in-person ballots are delivered there after polls close at 8 p.m. He said mail-in ballots are canvassed and tabulated at a different location.
According Chester County District Attorney’s office, the center was evacuated following the threat. Chester County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit swept the center and found no signs of a bomb.
A Chester County court order allowed those who vote at the two pollinglocations within the Government Services Center to vote at neighboring polling places. Voting hours were extended until 10 p.m. for those specific voters.
The building has since reopened and the threat is being investigated.
