BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The mother of 18-year-old Reco English continues to find herself in unimaginable situations, and this week it was a Georgia courtroom – face to face with the woman who allegedly killed her son.
“It was almost as if they weren’t expecting us to be there. I think it’s going to be a long road, she definably not remorseful,” said Brooke Goodwin.
Georgia court records and the mother confirm 38-year-old Jamie Smith’s bond was denied.
The Birmingham woman is charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and several other charges following a three-vehicle crash that killed the Pinson Valley football player and a Gardendale woman.
The mother recounted the judge’s perspective.
“His words were, ‘if I give her a bond and she does this again, it’s going to be on my head’,” Goodwin said.
