Biden Administrations SAVE plan on hold as federal courts in Kansas, Missouri consider student debt-relief case [Video]

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KY3) – Rulings from federal judges in Kansas and Missouri on Monday temporarily blocked sections of the Biden Administration’s student debt-relief plan, determining Congressional approval would be required for any such action on federally backed loans.

According to the rulings, the parts of the program already in effect will remain, while another section, a reduction in borrower payments from 10% to 5% of one’s monthly income, is on hold as the case moves through the court process.

Kansas’s Attorney General Kris Kobach and Missouri’s Attorney General Andrew Bailey represent 18 states in their respective lawsuits.

The ‘SAVE’ plan stands for Saving on a Valuable Education plan, which was set to begin in July, but recent rulings have changed its course.

Bailey called it “President Biden’s latest attempt to unlawfully transfer hundreds of thousands of dollars in Ivy League debt onto working Missouri families” in his press release.
