GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – We love those first day of school photos on Facebook, but we need to be careful.
Parents, you’ve heard this before, but this is a reminder as we get caught up in getting ready for a new school year.
The Wisconsin Better Bureau offers these tips to protect your child’s privacy:
- Avoid sharing personal details about your child. If you want them to hold up a board or poster, remember scammers are on the lookout for personal details on social media to steal someone’s identity.
- If your child wears a uniform, it’s best not to post them wearing it for the same reason.
- The Wisconsin BBB advises leaving out information about your child’s school. The name of their school, a teacher, even their grade level may be used in security questions.
- Choose a generic background for your photos. Be mindful of house numbers, street signs …
