OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) – Last week, Olathe firefighters responded to a chimney, or flue, fire. They were able to put it out quickly with no injuries reported. They took to social media to post a video they got inside the chimney after they put the fire out, stressing the importance of regular inspections for wood-burning fireplaces and stoves.
“This time of year, we are going to be seeing home heating pick up,” said Captain Mike Hall with the Olathe Fire Department. “It’s the second leading cause of fires in the U.S. So, whatever you’re using to heat, make sure those devices or appliances are checked by a pro.”
