Amazon planning to open new facility in Surry County, NC in 2025 [Video]

The Surry County Economic Development Partnership announced Amazon has selected Surry County for a new distribution center. The center plans to invest millions of dollars and bring dozens of jobs to the area.This location, at the crossroads of Interstate 77 and Interstate 74 in northern Surry County on North Carolina Route 89, will serve customers within a 45-minute drive area. Amazon says the company reached out to the Surry County Economic Development Partnership in November 2023 to assist with site selection, and the chosen property was submitted as the best option in the area. The location is not in any city limits, but has water and sewer services due to many years of work from Surry County, Mount Airy, and Dobson to extend utilities to the area.
