PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Marshall Health’s Creating Opportunities for Recovery Employment (CORE) and Career Opportunities for Appalachian Legacy (COAL) workforce development initiatives expanded to include services in Wood, Jackson, and Mason Counties.
According to the news release, the expansion has a couple of goals: firstly, to partner with local businesses and organizations to provide support and resources to individuals in recovery and those wanting to re-enter the workforce, and, secondly, to foster economic growth and community well-being.
Ashley Payne is the program director for CORE and says they want “really to help get people ready to go back to work and to get West Virginians back to work.”
Payne says several funders contributed to this effort.
“The Appalachian Regional Commission and the Benedum Foundation…. [and] local partners, that includes the McDonough Foundation, Sisters Health Foundation and the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation,” says Payne. “I think the leaders within the community recognized that there were great efforts going on …
