OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Omaha Public Power District board of directors approved a $2.3 Billion corporate operating plan for 2025, meaning an increase in the rates paid by OPPD customers.
In a statement released Thursday, OPPD says that reliability, resiliency, and future growth are the priorities in the new operating plan.
Included in the plan, according to the statement, is a rate increase of 6.3% across all categories for consumers.
Residential customers will see an 8.4% increase, equating to an extra $9.44 on the average $113 bill.
These rate adjustments will go into effect on January 1, 2025.
According to the statement, extreme weather events in 2024 account for approximately one-quarter of the increase. OPPD points to the July 31 windstorm specifically, saying it caused the largest customer damage in OPPD history.
