Watch: Dog rescued from ledge of highway bridge in Florida [Video]

Dec. 16 (UPI) — Animal services personnel in Florida came to the rescue of a dog found stranded on a ledge at the side of a highway bridge.

Jacksonville Animal Care & Protective Services said on social media that officers were in their morning meeting when they received a call about a dog that “had gotten stuck on the side of the Myrtle Avenue bridge on I-95.”

The rescuers “were able to rescue this terrified dog in an incredibly humane, gentle way, getting her to safety as quickly as possible,” the post said.

A video shows rescuers using a net to prevent the dog from falling while getting a leash around her neck. They were then able to safely hoist the canine from her perch.

It was not clear how the dog came to be stranded on the ledge.
