GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Local business owners are getting ready for Small Business Saturday.
This shopping “holiday” started in 2010 to encourage people to support local stores and eateries during the holidays.
According to American Express, 68 cents of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the local community.
“This is our livelihood,” Jill Zelzer, manager of A Bag Lady, said, “and if we don’t have the local community coming in and buying and spreading the word about what a great place it is, it’s not going to make it.“
“We have seen growth. We’ve been in business 20 years. This year is on pace to be one of our best years yet. So we know there’s people out there who want to keep their money local and want to support the shops that are in their communities,” Hey, Daisy! owner Sarah Hickey said.
