Heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk speaks out after dramatic arrest at airport on way to Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois [Video]

Heavyweight boxing world champion Oleksandr Usyk was dramatically handcuffed and detained by police in Poland on Tuesday night.

Footage shared on social media showed the Ukrainian fighter being led away by uniformed officers with his hands behind his back at Krakow Airport.

The 37-year-old was on his way to London, where is due to attend Anthony Joshua’s fight with Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Usyk later took to social media to insist the matter had been a ‘misunderstanding’ that had since been resolved and thanked people for their concern.

He wrote: “Dear friends, a misunderstanding took place. It was quickly resolved. Thanks to all who got concerned.

“Thanks to Ukrainian diplomats for the efficient support.

“And respect to Polish Police for conducting their obligations with no regards to height, weight, reach and regalia.

“Thanks God to everything.”
