ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — It’s been four months, and the city of Rogers is still repairing damages from the May tornado including Northwest Park.
Debris can be found all over the brand-new $26 million complex.
The park received damages to the complex’s turf, lights, fences and buildings. Since the tornado caused so much damage, the city of Rogers filled out the paperwork through FEMA. Rogers Parks and Recreation hopes to start repairs in the next month or so.
“It was open right about three weeks and we’d even scheduled the grand opening for a couple weeks after the tornado hit, so it was very heartbreaking. It was top-of-the-line. We heard from as many people as we could around the industry. That was as good as it gets, and it was just gone the next day, basically,” said Quinton Harris, director of Rogers Parks and Recreation.
