Scams to look out for in East Texas [Video]

TYLER, Texas (KETK) –  East Texans may notice that they are getting more calls than ever from unknown numbers or strange text messages, KETK interviewed local officials for tips on avoiding common scams.

“Ringing all the time because I get a lot of spam calls all the time” Juanita Fraley, a Tyler resident and mother, said. “If it says Tyler Texas then I know they are real calls.”

She said She’s also received fake emails and knows of social media scams.

“Just be careful you know, just be careful,” said Fraley. “With everything now, a day’s you can’t trust everything you see on social media and your email and your phone.”

The Tyler Police department is warning people of the many scams that are out there. On Thursday, they sent out a statement, warning the public.
