Guilford County Schools prepares for new school year [Video]

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C.(WGHP) — It’s almost time for the 68,000 students in Guilford County to go back to class. The new school year is set to start on Monday.

Before the first day, Superintendent Dr. Whitney Oakley shared some of the changes. The district will be consolidating its central officers to get their entire team in one building and make sure they are more efficient. Searching online will get easier with a brand-new GCS website expected to launch this fall.

“I know that great things are ahead for us in the 24-25 school year,” Oakley said.

She said the district has put in a lot of work this summer. Staff installed new security cameras, added new emergency radios to the buses and repaired HVAC systems in the buildings.
