Explosive growth for Maine skincare products company [Video]

PORTLAND, Maine (WMTW) – A skincare products company based in Portland is adding new products to its lineup and says it has seen “explosive sales growth” over the last year.

Thursday, Marin Skincare in Portland released a Campfire S’mores lip treatment. Just like Marin’s signature “Lobster Lotion,” made with lobster glycoproteins, the Campfire S’mores lip treatment contains the same healing protein. It also has the scent of roasted marshmallow, cinnamon honey graham cracker, caramelized vanilla and milk chocolate.

The company teams up with Portland seafood company Luke’s Lobster, where the fluid used in the cream containing the lobster protein is removed during processing. In the past, the fluid would have gone down the drain.

The company said Thursday that sales have grown by 3,900% since it launched in 2020 and that it more than doubled its full-time workforce in the last year, growing from three to seven.
