FLORIDA, USA — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to sign a bill banning social media accounts for children 13 and under. The move comes after the governor vetoed a similar bill that would have banned social media accounts for kids under 16

Monitoring children on social media is a struggle that many parents say they face daily.

“It’s hard to keep them off of it, because they know how to operate, they know how to access it. And we can’t always have eyes on them 24/7,” Geneva Barber, a parent and teacher, said.

House Bill 3 would ban social media for minors under 14 and would force companies to terminate current accounts held by that age group. The bill would also require parents’ consent for social media use for 14 and 15 year olds.
